But surely they're classed as a production items now as they come manufacturer supplied?

Hopefully they will be eventually allowed in all minimotos. They are far better therefore must be safer?

Only problem i can see is the resivours, It's happend on my pushbike where i have come off and its just spilled out fluid every where, it would be nice if they did become legal in the other classe's though

They are better for sure, but taking Ed's point I wouldn't bother with a rear, too expensive, too easy to break, not used enough to warrant it!!
As long as the reservoir is tough and tucked away and the whole assembly is reasonably priced, it could be considered for Proddy, but to be honest, apart from a bit of fade, 10bhp, 55-60mph is not really pushing the limits of a well set up cable brake.

be looking around £120 at least for a descent set up, even more if you go with the 6 port versions.....

meant to say £120 just for the front set up, the rear would be about the same too

Yep I Want !!!!!!!!
Lewis Taylor#7

i dont think i would want any because i have hydrolics on my ped and i dont get much feedback from them, where as i do with the std grc brakes

But ped brakes are completly different to moutain bike hydraulic brakes. I have Hope M4 brakes on my push bike and the feel to them is amazing, i would have a set on my minimoto if i could!

You could say exactly the same thing about mountain bikes, and yet hydraulic brakes are nothing out of the ordinary for them.

there pritty amazing for what they are, the stopping power of them is very good, but obviously there only allowed in the super's so unless your doing the super's you won't be getting a pair anyway :p

I use 6 pot hopes and they are unbelievable. Hardly have to touch the lever with just 1 finger giving you better throttle grip etc.

yup, hope 6 pot brakes are mental, they were to sharp, hense why i went hope 4 pot

what i cant understand about this braking system is that they are allowed on a minimoto super, they are allowed on Pitbikes they are also allowed on the
bigwheeled bikes..i was told the reason they werent allowed in minimoto racing in production class was just in case you fall off and oil gets on the track..but these brakes are being used on the same meeting as minimoto`s but on supers pitbikes and bigwheels...dont make the slightest bit of sence to me at all...

i just upgraded my MTB from hope mono Mini to hope Mono m4, and the feel and extra stoping power is awsome, hate to think what the ti6 pot are like sheesh...
will be putting them on my super asap for sure, but i have an old DM so a mounting kit is needed and now they are post mount not INT STD makes things alot easier to adapt them for a diffrent bike when i upgrade my bike...

they have the same set-up as the DM ones....

yes they are using the same hydraulic brakes, but from my understanding this is their prototype, but thier is a hydraulic brake setup available for the Grc, Lollo from lrc racing componets developed his own using a radial mount for the front, which is the same style mounting you use on big bikes, I'm waiting on my hdyro setup from him, which will be shipping this week, here is a link to his website, very competative prices and he ships everywhere I'm in the U.S. http://www.lrc-components.it/default.asp
He's always got the newest products available and he does do his own R&D work,

Its got nothing to do with spillage, its to keep the production class costs and maintenace (bad maintenance) down as low as possible. (Scotts words)

Well Pete with the amount of money some people spend on minimoto`s i.e. myself a little more expence on this braking system wouldnt be a great deal more. and i have always said through out my years of riding bikes on the road or compitition bikes brakes are verr very important. well in my eyes anyway..

We have been running the MTB Hydraulic Brakes (Hope) on the Psycho XP1 Carbon Frame bike for a while now.. Braking is AWESOME...
We have also run a lot of the Hope and Maguri MTB Hydraulic Brakes on the GoPed's.. however, these were actually too good for the GoPeds and just used to lock the front wheel a lot and throw you over the handlebars - not much feedback from the lever.. (especally if you jumped off one ped running cable brakes straight onto one running hydraulics and then grabbed a hand full of brakes into the corner... not good..)
It is all down to set up with the hydraulics.. get it rigt and they are fantastic.. quite pricey but very good..

yo iv fitted the hope mono mini to the front of my super took half a session to bed the pads in but certainley passed the test i had a load of people round me in the paddock at gp karting cuz nobody could turn the front wheel with me just pushing the brake leaver with my little finger lol and thats just the cheaper mono mini`s at 50-60 quid off Ebay i had to make my own bracket was a bit of hastle but done now. oh and the best thing is the open bath ones are self setting no need to adjust on the brake pads from the start of the pad to the end iv not tuched it sins iv put it on about a month ago fully recomended i wouldnt think there would be any need for the back one unless you wonted the self setting busness all round that would be good

But surely these hydraulic brakes would only be good on a proddy or super because if you were to use them on a 4.2 you would stop completely dead lol ??or what you all think lol:laughs:

Still waiting for a dry track to give my new setup a test. The hydraulics have a much more positive feel from what i can tell and there is less lever travel to lock the front wheel. Shows what can be done for little money though, setup was a £30 bargain off flea bay and a few parts were made by a good friend for free!
Dropped camera breaking the focus just before pic taken.

It's a 140mm Hope pattern part (6 hole)for a Mtb with a boss to fit to the original Banshee front wheel m8. Opted for a floating caliper for ease of install.
Pic with phone this time.
