    Throttle cable question

new to all this so sorry for the basic question. In the process of repairing my sons first bike ( mini moto dirt 49cc chinese import) and the throttle doesnt seem to snap shut as id like it too .ive took the slide out the carb and all seems fine but when assembled the cable seems too long. ive adjusted the top of carb adjuster and the throttle houseing adjuster to max but still when closing the throttle fully the inner cable seems to push away the outer one. Am i doing something wrong or has the cable stretched ? if i have to replace what length should it be?
anybody know where to down load a manual from ?

this happened with mine i think they just put the wrong cable on you need to make some sort of extention (carb end then its out the way) to counteract for the cable slack. my mate used a pice of thin pipe with a cut all the way down it and just slotted it on. if that makes sense

Can you not just re-route the throttle cable so it takes a longer route - therefore eliminating the slack?

Either that or fit a shorter cable.

thanks for the replies , its a little hard to explain but its as if the inner cable is too long for the outer because when you close the throttle fully, the outer cable pushes out of the adjuster at the throttle end, cant really explain but ive ordered a new cable anyway. is the throttle closing just down to the spring in the carb or should the throttle have a spring?

It is just the spring in the carb mate, funnily enough ive been having the same problem as you when putting a new throttle and cable on my stamas!

Hope you get it sorted anyway.

thanks mate, its all good fun though. i bought the bike for my 5 year old son but its mainly for me to tinker with while the wife watches hours of soaps , off into my garage now for a tinker.
