only had mini atv quad 5 mins and stopped working !!

I just purchased a quad mini from a local website, its brand new. The guy came with it and it started fine first pull.

I then take it into the house, into my back garden and it wont start, and when I move the petrol switch to on all of a sudden it starts weeing itself from the overflow on the carb.

I did a search on here and most similar posts say bang the bike on its back wheels to help release the float in the carb that could be stuck, did that and nothing - removed the chamber from the carb and it moves freely.

have I done something wrong?? is there a button to hold somewhere to start it whilst pulling the start cord?? it has a spark and fuel in, carb is fine - the mini is brand new??

its deffo fuel related, the petrol shouldnt pee out of the overflow when switched on should it??

sorry know nowt about these things.

Heres a pic below, apart from it has a light on the front and is red lol

    Either

1 - There is muck in the seal of the fuel valve attached to the float so it will not close causing it to overflow.

2 The float has a hole in it causing it to fill and drop opening the valve

You need to strip the carb and give it a good checkout/cleanout

    Thanks for that,

When you say strip the carb down, so you mean take it apart completely and not just unscrew the chamber and clean in there??

    I have 1 more question:

Would putting too much 2 stroke oil in the fuel stop it from starting? I have a sneaky suspision that there was too much in, I have turned the fuel off overnight and this morning there is green 2 stroke oil all over the floor under the bike even though the fuel switch was set to close its leaked everywhere.

I had a bike that used to pour petrol from the overflow and as i remember its cos the float in the carb was stuck so it just kept letting fuel through so could be worth checkin, not to sure about the oil thing though, i dont think too much oil would make it leak like you described

When you push the float up (with the bowl off) does it shut the fuel off?
