Use loose wool as opposed to the mat, any decent bike shop will have both, fill the packing space available completely but don't cram it in tight.

Most crucial thing if you want to do the job properly is to take the baffle pipe out when the silencer is split and clear the carbon out of the holes along it. Amazing the number of people who complain that they repack the silencer and it's just as noisey as before, but the holes in the baffle pipe are almost completely blocked with carbon which just means it is in effect a straight solid pipe and there might as well not be a silencer there. A clean baffle with fresh packing even in one of the old smaller silencers will make a huge difference to noise level but sadly most of the importers/dealers would rather use the excuse to sell you a new "better" silencer than tell you how to get the best out of what you already have. (familiar story!)

The good thing about all this is that there is no performance penalty whatsoever, it's a real shame that tracks have been lost because of noise when there never needed to be a problem in the first place!

ok thanks for that ill give everything a try n see what works best, not so bothered about losing power its just the sheer noise of it that i want to decrease,it sounds very nice but too loud for a bike of that size
